Against all the testimony, and without providing any contrary proofs, U.S. spokesmen continue to insist that the delegation traveling to Mr. Karzai's inauguration was a legitimate target. On Monday the Pentagon essentially stuck to its story that the men killed by the missile strike were from Al Qaeda, even though officials acknowledged that they had not yet determined the identities of those killed.
